With the 2017 baseball season right around the corner, the Charlotte Knights will open their fourth season Uptown at the BB&T Ballpark.
Here are five things you need to know about the Knights this season.
1. Giveaways and Promotions at the Ballpark
The Knights have a packed home schedule with festivities. Let’s start with the fireworks. After every Friday night home game, the Knights hold their “Friday Night Fireworks” show for all fans.
Don’t forget about the appearances the Knights will host with former MLB players and celebs.
WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry “The King” Lawler, will toss a ceremonial first pitch and be available for pictures and autographs during June 7th’s game against the Durham Bulls.
Former MLB players Luis Tiant (Wednesday, April 19), Tony Olivia (Tuesday, May 16), Brian Jordan (Wednesday, June 14), Bucky Dent (Wednesday, June 28) and Jack Morris (Wednesday, August 16) will be at BB&T Ballpark to meet fans and throw out ceremonial first pitches.
Don’t forget your four-legged friends love baseball too. The Knights will be hosting Bark in the Ballpark for their game on May 15. All canines are welcome on the concourse and in the lower seating bowl.
Finally, the giveaways the Knights have planned are pretty exciting. Here’s a few to mark on your calendar:

3. Charlotte Pitmasters
The Knights will surprise fans with a name change for their July 15 game against the Gwinnett Braves. They’ll be the Charlotte Pitmasters, a tribute to the area’s barbecue culture. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase caps and shirts with the Pitmasters logo on it during the game.
“We’ll always be proud to be the Charlotte Knights,” said Rob Egan, Knights General Manager of Baseball Operations. “But for one night this season, we’re thrilled to honor BBQ lovers all across the Carolinas with this unique new brand. We hope that our fans enjoy the new design and get behind this special theme night. We will have plenty of delicious BBQ fare that night as well.”
4. Affordable Fun
Tickets to a Knights game have always been affordable, and the 2017 season is no different. Tickets prices range from $30 for the Home Plate Club to $8 for standing room only in the outfield area.
You also can’t beat the great promotions for food and drink.
