Whether you’re a card carrying member of the Canes alumni association or your entire wardrobe is Clemson Orange, Charlotte is ready to give you a Queen City welcome when the 2017 Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game kicks off in Charlotte on December 2.
While all eyes are on Saturday’s match up between No. 1 Clemson and No. 7 Miami, there’s plenty to do before you settle in to watch the sold out game in Bank of America Stadium at 8 p.m.
Here are four ways to celebrate the arrival of the championship off the field:
Plan an epic night at the EpiCentre
Marching bands, mascots, cheerleaders and fans are preparing to take over the EpiCentre to officially kick off the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game celebrations with ACC Fan Central on Friday, December 1, from 7 – 11 p.m. The Battle of the Bands (Clemson vs. Miami) begins at 8 p.m. and will be followed by live music and plenty of team spirit.
Get in on the big race before the big game
Join Sebastian the Ibis, The Tiger and all your favorite ACC mascots for the annual ACC Fan 5K and Kids Mascot Run presented by Novant Health on Saturday, December 2. The race kicks off at 8 a.m. in Uptown Charlotte, followed immediately by a post-race party in the Wells Fargo Atrium where prizes will be given out to the top finishers and costume contest winner.
Brush off your sign-making skills for ESPN’s College GameDay
For the first time ever ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Charlotte, so make sure your team is well represented by bringing your sign A-game. GameDay will be setting up shop at Romare Bearden Park for its live broadcast on ESPN from 9 a.m. – noon on Saturday. Arrive early to secure your spot – and 15 minutes of fame.
Shake your tail feather (or tiger paw) at FanFest
This year’s ACC FanFest will take place on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte between Stonewall Street and 4th Street from 2 – 7 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free, family-friendly and features food, music, games, giveaways and a mascot dance off. Who could ask for more?
