A Charlotte mainstay since 1984, Fenwick’s on Providence provides the perfect cozy neighborhood feel for catching up with friends and family. Indulge in a hearty brunch to power your weekend activities or unwind with a post-work dinner. You’ll find a menu packed with juicy burgers and steaks, fresh seafood and loaded salads. The soup selections are accompanied by a divine homemade muffin and make for a popular starting point, as does the in-demand hummus appetizer and the hearty basket of crispy onion rings. Regardless of the time of day, you’ll want to plan on devouring a slice of Fenwick’s delectable pecan pie during your visit; it’s practically a requirement.

Shop for special tokens at The Buttercup Gifts and Stationery

The Buttercup Gifts and Stationery is a fitting name for the beloved shop that takes up residence in a cheerful yellow brick building situated on Providence Road. The Buttercup’s stationery selection is ideal for announcing life’s major milestones, but it’s also worth a visit if you’re in the mood to break up the monotony of endless email streams. When was the last time you sent a handwritten card? It’s probably time to grab a stack and get scribbling. At The Buttercup, you’ll also find ever-popular brands, like Lily Pulitzer and Mariposa. Little ones will adore the shop’s stock of super-huggable blankets and stuffed animals. Pamper someone special in your life by gifting her luxurious bath products or a travel mug to keep her morning coffee steamy and stylish.

Dazzle your senses at Theatre Charlotte

Staring at computers, phones, and tablets all day makes screen overload a real threat. Let Theatre Charlotte serve as an appealing antidote. Since 1927, the volunteer-based theater company has provided the Queen City with an infusion of culture in the form of plays and musicals that delight a diverse audience. The theatre regularly earns attention for its contributions to Charlotte’s performing arts scene. In fact, it’s been dubbed the North Carolina Theatre Conference’s Community Theatre of the Year three times. Mark your calendar for upcoming performances of “Aida,” “Spring Awakening,” “A Christmas Carol,” and “The Lion King.” For youth, TCjr (Theatre Charlotte for juniors) offers season ticket packages as well as single-ticket options.
